Paws in the Park 5K Run/Walk

Animal lovers, runners, walkers, and families are invited to lace up their shoes and join the Foundation for the Boone Area Humane Society for its annual Paws in the Park 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the beautiful Iowa Arboretum.
Participants are encouraged to bring their canine companions—or simply come enjoy a morning outdoors while supporting homeless animals in Boone County. Every registration helps the Foundation provide financial support to the Boone Area Humane Society, ensuring animals receive the care, shelter, and medical attention they deserve.
This event is about more than running or walking. Every dollar raised helps provide hope for homeless animals in our community. Whether you participate with your dog, your family, or choose our ‘Lazy Dog’ option from the comfort of home, you’re making a real difference.”
Registration will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Participants may begin the course as soon as they register, allowing everyone to enjoy the scenic route through the Iowa Arboretum at their own pace. There is no mass start. Registration will be held outdoors, weather permitting, or inside the Cafferty Building if necessary.
Early registration is $30 through October 4th and $35 after that date. Participants who register by October 4th are guaranteed an event T-shirt. Day-of-event registration is also welcome.
Not able to attend? Supporters can still participate by selecting the popular “Lazy Dog Fee” for $30, allowing them to support the cause without completing the 5K.
