Looking for a fun, free way to get the kids outside before school starts?

Join us for a family-friendly afternoon of birding at the beautiful Iowa Arboretum and Gardens! With over 160 acres of woodlands, prairies, and wetlands, it is the perfect spot for your young explorers to discover Iowa’s colorful summer wildlife.

Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Madrid, Iowa

Who: Young birders (ages 8–18) and their parents/guardians/caretakers

Cost: FREE, and Advance registration is requested

*Normal entrance rates apply for participants to visit the Arboretum before or after the class.

What to Expect

No Experience Needed: Whether your child is a seasoned nature lover or completely new to birding, everyone is welcome!

Exciting Wildlife: We will search for stunning local birds like Indigo Buntings, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Scarlet Tanagers, and soaring hawks.

Gear Provided: Binoculars are encouraged, as we will have a limited number of pairs available to borrow.
